Happy Birthday Dighton
All are invited to a small party for the Library’s Tricentennial Kick-Off Celebration. Join us for cake and party games to celebrate!

Dighton Beyond the Book
Saturday, January 21, 1:00 PM at the Lower Level of Dighton Town Hall
Refreshments served.
All are invited to participate in the Library’s special Tricentennial book discussion groups. Planned in conjunction with the Dighton Intertribal Indian Council, each month will feature books that were chosen to represent a different theme connected to Dighton’s history – with special focus on Native American perspectives, culture, identity and tradition. Each month will feature specific titles for children, teens and adults, as well as a Suggested Reading List that will allow participants to explore themes in more detail.
January’s theme is Who We Were. Books that were selected show how life was for the Wampanoag nation before European settlers joined them in Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Buddy Cianci is coming!!
He calls himself the only person who has ever been inside the White House, Windsor Castle and the federal penitentiary at Fort Dix in New Jersey. The former mayor of Providence, purveyor of marinara sauce, ongoing Prince of Providence and current radio talk show host will join us to discuss his most recent book on Tuesday, December 6 at 7:00 PM at the Dighton Middle School. The Library is honored to host Buddy Cianci for an evening of tales from Buddy’s perspective. Politics and Pasta: How I Prosecuted Mobsters, Rebuilt a Dying City, Dined with Sinatra, Spent Five Years in a Federally Funded Gated Community, and Lived to Tell the Tale is the story we will hear. Copies of the book should be available for purchasing and for Buddy to sign, courtesy of Readmore Bookstore.
“Cianci tells the fascinating story of his rise to power and the profound transformation that Providence underwent under his command…. As colorful on the page as he is in person, Cianci is a natural storyteller with a lot to say.”–Kirkus Reviews
Wednesday Hours
The Library will be open 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 23. We are closed Thanksgiving Day, but we will be open again Friday, 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM.
The Help
All readers are invited to join the discussion on The Help, by Kathryn Stockett, on Thursday, November 17 at 4:00 PM at the Library. Recent Ole Miss graduate Eugenia “Skeeter” Phelan returns home to her family home with wide and open eyes about the racial divide between the members of her household. Copies of the book are available now at the Library.
