Beneath the Skull and Crossbones: Piracy Myth and History – April 25th

pirates, piracy
Join Dr. James Wadsworth, Professor of History at Stonehill College and author of Global Piracy: A Documentary History of Seaborne Banditry, on Thursday April 25th at 6:30 at Old Town Hall for a lecture about pirates. Pirates represent some of the most popular and yet least understood figures in history. Most people have very romantic notions of piracy and very little exposure to primary source material. Many people hold views that modern pirates are simple thugs and villains while Caribbean buccaneers were dignified social bandits. Come see Dr. Wadsworth as he challenges these myths and situates pirates in their proper historical context.
